Practicing makes things easier and smoother, so it makes sense that we would practice performing as well as practicing the actual music before a recital. Practice performances can help the final event feel less scary, show you where you need more practice (as under pressure things fall apart easier) and help you feel comfortable with the little things you didn't think about (for example, bowing and introducing your music)
