Orange Roots Lesson 8

Updated: Mar 9

This week we learned the A minor scale and cadence, did rhythmic dictation for the first time, and practiced drawing a bass clef.

Parents attend next week: We will have Showtime for New World Symphony

Orange rhythm flashcards: all 16 cards should now be unbanded.

Russian Sailor Dance

This song is ALWAYS a student favorite. Another great repertoire piece that reinforces ABA form, improvisations, and provides a study in legato and staccato themes. But it's the the accelerando at the end that will have your student BEGGING to practice it all the time!

Now is the time to make plans for after Let's Play Music ends. If you are interested in continuing with me, I will be teaching a group class for Let's Play Music graduate class called Bridge: a group class that and helps bridge (get it bridge, haha) the gap between Let's Play Music and private lessons. I will not have any space for new private students in my studio next fall. If you are looking for a private teacher for when your student graduates from Let's Play Music, now is the time to do it as many teachers are full and have a wait list. It is best if you can meet in person with the teacher before the summer break to help the new teacher get to know your child's progress while its still fresh. Here is a great post on our Let's Play Music Blog with tips on how to interview and what to look for in a private teacher.
